Design help…. Kitchen colors?

My house was decorated so badly! We are ready to redo the kitchen, but I’m stumped. They put up blue flowery wallpaper and painted all the trim royal blue! even the window frames!! we can’t afford new appliances, and the ones we have are only a couple of years old, but they are this off-white cream color. They had the cabinets painted to match the appliances. All the rest of the trim in the house is a clean white. I plan to not paint the cabinets because we are going to replace them in a couple of years (the current ones were hand crafted with the finest wood paneling money can buy). What color do you paint the trim? If white, it will clash with the appliances and cabinets. If off white, won’t it clash with the rest of the house? We are planning to put up a soft deep tan linen wallpaper.
